The Faricy Boys
Case Study: Holistic thinking future proofs The Faricy Boys
dealerships with EV Chargers and energy management
Colorado Springs, Salida, and Cañon City
CHALLENGE
The Faricy Boys Automotive owners, Ben and Paul Faricy, decided to include electric vehicles in their inventory at their auto dealerships across southern Colorado. The new EVs would require on site chargers to support sales and service.
In addition, they wanted to help support EV drivers who travel through the mountain communities from Colorado Springs through Cañon City and Salida, with publicly available chargers.
SOLUTION
In looking for possible solutions, they found Diane Dandeneau's article about intelligent energy management and IPOWER's consulting and installation. Her insight brought together an integrated plan for new EV chargers, solar rooftop, and LED lighting as well as financial insights.
Consulting: With Diane's experience in both the automotive industry and energy solutions, she was able to provide detailed feedback on how to efficiently design the infrastructure to incorporate all aspects of this project.
Public and private EV chargers: IPOWER Alliance installed dual Level 2 and dual Level 3 DC Fast Chargers which are available to the public at the front and side of all three locations, including a drive through option in Colorado Springs. There are additional chargers installed in and near the service bays.
ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGES
LED Upgrades: Upgrading and replacing the service bay lighting provided additional energy savings.
Financial Benefits: By incorporating solar and public charging into the project there were a variety of credits, grants and funding including ITC, NEVI, Charge Ahead Colorado, Fleet-Zero, Xcel Energy Rebates, Colorado Clean Energy Fund.
Excellent EV Network Partners: With automatic billing and payments, load management, app-based user interface, and even reservations for users provides hassle-free operations.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Electrification: Investing in EV chargers provides both the dealership and the general public chargers along the US Highway 50 mountain corridor.
Better quality chargers: Public EV chargers can be fickle. IPOWER installs Autel chargers for their quality and longevity.
Excellent network service partners: The EV chargers work with a variety of different partners including EV Connect, FordPass®, Chargepoint, and Shell greenlots.
Save on Energy costs: by installing energy efficient LEDs in conjunction with the solar the utility costs will drastically decrease.
Focus on Sales: Peace of mind from power outages allows dealerships to prioritize customer service & sales.
